Jake desperately wants to escape from his problems, however he carries a constant reminder of what he went through because of his injury. Lady Ashley and his desire for what can never happen between them is another constant reminder of what he has gone through which never allows him to escape his war. So, while the pastoral setting was a good break for him, it doesn’t allow him to completely regain his masculinity. Instead, he uses a forced masculine attitude as a form of escapism. In comparison to the count, Jake is a small and seemingly weak man. The count dates Brett, buys her things such as dinner flowers and champagne. Brett treats Jake lovingly but it is almost in a tantalizing way because she knows nothing will happen etween them. In order to keep up his many image, Jake begins to spend money frivolously as the count does, even though he is by no means wealthy. (Read) Jake isn’t the only one that the pastoral setting doesn’t help when it comes to escaping the memories of the war. After the war, women had a new place in the world because during the war they had to work while the men were away . Brett is unable to use the country as a place of solace because women were still supposed to be traditional and that type of confinement wouldn’t allow her to forget the things she saw as a nurse. Instead, she turns to a somewhat wild lifestyle consisting of alcohol and men as her own form of escapism. The characters seem to be constantly looking for a way to escape their problems rather than fixing them or simply accepting that there are some things that can’t be changed. They cling to ideas of what could have been, even up to the very last lines of the book. Stone also employed a long shot to establish the setting of stockbrokers in Jackson Steinem & Co., a local Wall Street stock and trading firm. The planning, synchronization and the conduct of operational functions have some impacts on the belligerents. This paper intends to discuss the aftereffects of the operational functions of the military in relation to planning, synchronization and execution. To achieve this aim, the impacts of the operational functions to belligerents in the Leyte Gulf operation will be discussed. The Leyte Gulf operation, also termed as the battles for Leyte Gulf, was a battle that occurred during the Second World War, from the 23rd to the 25th of October 1944. It aimed at the liberation of Philippines. Allied forces of the U .S.A and Australia and the Imperial Japanese Navy were the protagonists in the battle (Adamsky, 2010). Preparation and Planning The main objective of the operation was to capture Leyte Gulf. The U.S. naval forces approached the attack using two axes, one under the leadership of Admiral Nimitz. So as to help the workers make fast decisions and to put them into effect, an information board is used.   The information board is a simple way of supplying relevant information at the workplace with anything from assembly processes, to production targets.   This feature takes out the need to chase down a busy supervisor, thus dramatically reducing the production downtime.   So as to increase its flexibility in the workplace and reduce waste, it is generally modular and reusable. Parts Presentation To reduce the number of interruptions to a minimum, all parts are generally supplied to each workstation outside of the workcell via gravity feed bins.   These bins are designed with simplicity and high reliability in mind to reduce the down times of the production line.   To make the bins even more flexible, they are usually designed to be stackable and to be fastened using key studs, thus further increasing the reconfigurability of the production line. In the case of larger parts however, the above system is shunned and a system of gravity feed conveyors are used instead.   On the other hand when parts are very heavy, a case lifter is used to raise the parts to the work station using electricity, pneumatics, or hydraulics. Reconfigurability To reduce the time wasted in the setting up of the line, reconfigurability is a very important factor to take in account when designing a workcell.   In light of this, quick-change fixtures are used due to their rapid changeover process.   Another perk of using this type of fixture is that since it is very compact, many fixtures can be stored at the workstation, further shortening of the changeover time is experienced. This arrangement allows for quick reconfiguration and movement to different parts of the workcell to accomodate for a new product, whilst also facilitating the change of the machine or workstation by using lockable casters. Quality One of the advantages of one-at-a-time manufacturing is the fact that a visual inspection can be done for every assembly.   In the case that gages are required, they would be mounted to the workstation while still allowing for quick and easy replacement. Some of the quality problems encountered may come from a malfuntioning machine or a faulty process.   These problems can be quickly solved be restructuring the machine frame system via the replavement of the bolted members. In the case of a faulty machine, this can also be quickly fixed, by first disconnecting all of the pneumatic or electric lines and then disconnecting the said machine to the frame via the lockable casters, eliminating the reluctance to change and improve the machines.   This in turn increases the quality of the assembly appreciably by not allowing anyone to settle for a part that is almost right. Maintainability So as to drastically reduce down times due to maintainance, a modular structural framing system is used.   This is to ensure that whilst the machine, or the machine frame is being serviced, another can easily take its place, minimising the already small downtime   of the reconfigureable defective part in question. By using this approach, one can standardize the components for most of the machine bases, guards, and workstations.   This significantly reduces the number of tools needed   to maintain the work cell, which in turn reduces the time needed to maintain the said structures.   It is also important to note that since most of the parts are standardised, the company needs less inventory space to house the spare parts needed for maintainance. Ease of Access By using aluminium framing system discussed above, all components can be easily accessed and the positions of the various accessories such as the bins, shelves and tool holders can be optimised to increase efficiency. Another advantage of using the above system is that not only is it possible to insure accessability for every worker by adding and repositioning components, but it also greatly increases the ease of maintainance of the work station by removing the parts in question via simple hand tools.

Philosophy of Education Becoming a teacher is going to be one of the greatest accomplishments of my life. Teaching was never a childhood dream for me like it was with others. Some people have always known that they wanted to become some type of teacher, but I never decided to until I entered college. I’ve always loved being around children and it makes me feel great to be able to help someone, so becoming a teacher is the perfect career choice for me. I believe that the true nature of most students is that they like school and they want to learn. I also believe that the school and the teachers greatly influence their nature over the course of their schooling. I believe that this true nature changes for a lot of students because at some point they go to a school that they don’t like or they have a teacher who is mean to them and expects them to do everything on their own without any guidance or help. I’ve had teachers like his and they made me dislike school very quickly. Hopefully, if this is the case, they will eventually have a great teacher that inspires them to do well and to like school once again. I want to be that teacher. In my opinion, the nature of knowledge is relative or constructed. Every person has their own set of opinions and beliefs that determine what that person perceives as the truth. Most people believe that their ideas, opinions, and beliefs of something are the truth to them. It’s my belief that the overall purpose of education is to improve society as a whole. Everyone should be given an equal opportunity to learn as they mature. I believe that the more educated a person is then the more likely they can become successful. A society full of successful people will be a successful society. Educat... ...ts will quickly lose interest. My professional development plan is to begin my career by substitute teaching after graduation. I do not want to relocate far from my current residence but I’m not completely opposed to it if the right opportunity presents itself. I will continue to substitute until I can find a full-time position. I do want to return to school to get a master’s degree after I have received some experience in the field or I am able to secure a full-time teaching position. There are a lot of different professional groups to join in the fields of physical education, health education, and teacher education. At this time I have not decided on which groups I will join in the future but I do plan to be active in a few of them. I also plan to be very active in the community that I will be teaching in. I feel that this is very important for all teachers.
